Beastie the BSD Daemon Cake

Horns, Arms and Tail

The horns, arms and tail were made from Rice Krispie Treats as well, covered with fondant, and then attached. The horns were the easy ones.

The arms were an interesting case, because they would end up being load-bearing. By this, I mean that they would need to support the weight of the pitchfork. One hand would actually need to grip the pitchfork while the other just helped support it. Look at that huge meathook!

Wow, look at that nose too. That was sculpted entirely from fondant, and then attached with three short skewers in the back. Speaking of skewers, I stuck some into the arms too, as kind of a weak bone structure. All they needed to do was keep the arms from bending under their weight, and the weight of the pitchfork. You can also see the eyes, eyebrows and mouth. The eyes were made from leftover green and white fondant, and the brows and mouth were piped on with store-bought black decorating icing.
